Mozilla Firefox has defaulted to blocking Flash in its browsers as of this Monday, July 13.

Mentioned in an article on CNN. This news comes after a spread of malware and remote attacks on people’s computers by the hacker group, Hacking Team. This group used exploits in the Flash code to gain access and put their malware on victims computers.

Flash is a fading technology on the web as browsers and smartphones move towards more HTML5 compliant web methods. Flash battled with Apple in 2010 over its lack of support of Flash. Later in 2011, Flash gave up on their attempts to keep its mobile plugins up-to-date.

With the future of Flash looking more bleak with each passing year, if you have a website that depends on Flash, it is time to consider upgrading its Flash components.
