Utah’s software developer market continues to be on fire, causing salaries to steadily increase with it. The Salt Lake Tribune cited a recent study that showed the median salary of an applications software developer to be at $79,440 and the median salary of a systems software developer reached more than $90,000.

Over the last decade Salaries have risen steadily in Utah for software developers. UTC, which is the same group who released this latest study, released a study in 2007 that showed that software developers averaged a salary of $55,000. That means that the average salary for developers has risen between $25,000 – $35,000 in the last 8 years.

This continued rise in cost for local senior developers is of course driving many Utah companies to look overseas for their talent. Software development outsourcing in Utah is becoming the way many companies are controlling costs while still getting the highest caliber of software developers.
